The AssetLink network is built around a global satellite network to move data back to our servers and ultimately turn it into actionable information to help your business.

This means that our system is more dependable than any cellular system. It has no dead spots and is not vulnerable to weather disruptions, terrorist acts, natural disasters, or other potential vulnerabilities of terrestrial communications networks. The system works in rural areas, in remote industrial locations, in maritime environments- nearly anywhere your assets could be, with zero dead spots. Nearly the entire land mass of the planet is covered, with sub-equatorial African coverage expected in late 2009.

The Best Satellite Solution Available

Not all satellites are created equal. AssetLink has selected the best possible solution for asset tracking and monitoring. The AssetLink system uses a carefully selected “Low Earth Orbit Constellation”, which is a commercial network of many satellites that orbit the Earth all over— to the north, south, and straight overhead. At any given time, several of these satellites are visible in the sky in every direction.

Some other satellite systems are better for broadband or voice; however, few users are downloading large graphics files or making voice phone calls to their containers and rental equipment. Other systems use stationary “geosynchronous” satellites for their data link, similar to the satellites used for DirectTV. These satellites require a clear view to the south, and a large antenna and battery to send messages the extra-long distances to the orbital locations of those satellites.

If you are parked on the north side of a terminal, or transmitting from a slot canyon, chances are there is still an AssetLink system satellite overhead. Furthermore, the transmission protocol used by AssetLink uniquely allows the low-cost, compact solutions we offer, and this protocol is unique to the satellite system selected. Not all satellites are created equal.
